I was still a kid, living in Garland, Texas, at the time. I remember there was a guy just down the block from us who wrote the following in shoe polish across his rear windshield: "John Lennon, 1940 - 1980". It stayed on until it faded.
The U.S. would have been a very different place, had he lived. I'm convinced of it.
